Specialty Pharmacy through Home Delivery
Specialty medications are used to treat complex and chronic conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, rare genetic disorders and cancer. CVS Specialty provides specialized care and support along with your medication for complex conditions. Specialty medication are often injected or infused, and many require prior authorization (PA) before they can be covered.
Specialty medications are limited to a 30-day supply, and are required to be filled at a participating CVS Specialty® pharmacy. Specialty medications may not be filled at participating retail pharmacies, or the member will be responsible for paying the entire cost.
Staff from CVS Specialty will reach out to physicians and members to work together in managing the member's prescription needs. Specialty medications can be sent to your home or work address, your doctor’s office or even a CVS Pharmacy® store(where allowed by law). If your medication has any special storage requirements, the representative will review those with you.
Individuals taking a specialty medication, and who are enrolled in PrudentRx, will pay $0 out-of-pocket for all specialty medications beginning July 1, 2023. Any State of Delaware non-Medicare prescription plan member who does not participate in the program as required will be charged a 30% coinsurance for specialty medications. Learn More.
