Casual/Seasonal or Non-Benefit Eligible Employees Orientation

We are glad that you decided to join our team as a casual/seasonal employee. This page is a resource for you as you complete your new hire paperwork, review required policies, and become acquainted with state employment. Remember to submit all required forms to your Agency HR/Ben Rep on or before your first day of work.

Please skip the New Employee Orientation (NEO) modules as a casual/seasonal employee are not required to view.

Casual/Seasonal Employees are:

  • Paid biweekly and are required to sign up for Direct Deposit (Forms found under "Onboarding Documents" below)

  • If your Agency is in PHRST, your first paycheck will be live—that is—it will not be deposited directly into your account.

  • Required to submit all the Onboarding Documents listed below to their Agency HR/Ben Rep or Designee on or before their first day of work.

  • Encouraged to complete the Onboarding Survey

The next section lists all the onboarding documents that must be completed with some requiring supporting documentation:

Onboarding Documents (Required)

The required statewide Policies and Procedures are listed here with those not required for C/S employees designated.

Casual Seasonal Employees must read and acknowledge the policies as outlined in the Casual /Seasonal or Non-Benefit Eligible Employees Agreement To Comply (ATC) and sign the ATC Form on or before their first day of work. This Onboarding process is in transition and those assignments may come through the Delaware Learning Center (DLC), once you are entered into the State’s human resource information system. Effective September 11, 2023, the initial required policies and training are sent to you from the DLC. The Policies can also be found on the Department of Human Resources (DHR) Policies and Procedures page.

Additional agency-specific policies can be found on the Agency Specific Information section of the Onboarding homepage.

Please Note: Casual/Seasonal employment does not guarantee you continued employment or the right, promise, or offer of a Merit position. Casual/Seasonal employees are not eligible for paid vacation/sick leave, holiday pay, health benefits, or pension benefits.
