Benefit eligible employees may enroll online for Accident or Critical Illness Insurance by Securian Financial during their 30-day initial eligibility period. Employees who do not enroll during their initial eligibility period must wait until the next Annual Benefits Open Enrollment or experience a qualifying life event.

State of Delaware Employees:
The Securian website and Benefit Scout®, Securian’s online decision-support tool can be accessed in Employee Self-Service through my.delaware.gov to enroll. Once logged in, follow the navigation to the Securian website: Employee Self Service > Benefits > Benefits Websites > Securian.

University of Delaware Employees:
Access the Securian website and Benefit Scout®, Securian’s online decision-support tool, through the University of Delaware Portal.

The 2025 Benefits Open Enrollment period is CLOSED.

You may enroll or make coverage changes during the plan year ONLY if you experience a qualifying event. Qualifying events include, but may not be limited to:

Eligible employees who experience a qualifying life event should contact Securian within 30 days of the qualifying life event.

Employees may cancel their Accident or Critical Illness Insurance anytime during the Plan Year. Employees who wish to cancel their coverage should contact Securian directly.

If you leave employment for any reason, including retirement, you can elect to port your coverage and pay premiums directly to Securian Financial. Securian Financial must be notified of your decision to port coverage within 31 days following your final date of employment. It is your responsibility to follow up with Securian Financial if you wish to continue coverage. Initially, rates may be similar to what you pay as an active employee, but they are subject to change.
