Purpose

Established in 2017*, we lead statewide efforts to promote fairness, opportunity and representation across all levels of government. Our core responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Guiding efforts to define, assess, and cultivate fair access and opportunity throughout state government.

  • Data and Accountability: Providing analysis of institutional data to benchmark progress and promote accountability related to workforce representation and access. Developing metrics and processes to evaluate efforts that support a representative and respectful workplace.

  • Education and Awareness: Promoting and providing education to foster awareness and understanding of various laws, regulations, and policies regarding nondiscrimination.

  • Workforce Development: Collaborating with state agencies to identify policies and practices that support the recruitment and retention of employees from historically underserved populations.

  • Policy and Practice Evaluation: Reviewing and advising on organizational practices to ensure alignment with principles of fairness, access and opportunity in the workplace.
