State Employee Recognition Awards
Delaware Award for Excellence and Commitment in State Service is a statewide award established in 1990, given to five State of Delaware employees, or groups of employees, who exemplify the highest standards of excellence and commitment in state service.
Nominations for the State Employee Recognition Award are due by January 31 each year.

The Trailblazer Award honors s individuals and small teams (5 or less) who create innovative projects that improve government efficiency and accountability:
- Develop new processes and best practices
- Achieve results that can be sustained and expanded
- Serve as role models for others in government
Nominations for the GEAR Trailblazer Award are due by January 31 each year.
The Governor’s Team Excellence Awards (GTEA) honor teams of up to 20 state employees who excel through teamwork and continuous improvement:
- Strengthen leadership, team dynamics, and communication
- Deliver superior customer service and measurable results
- Recognize outstanding collaboration and performance
Nominations for the award are due by January 15 each year.
The Delaware Award for Heroism was established in 2013, award recipients are presented with certificates to recognize acts of heroism and courage.
Starting in 2026, the Delaware Award for Heroism will be renamed the Corporal Grade One Matthew "Ty" Snook Award for Heroism, recognizing the extraordinary courage and selflessness of Delaware’s public servants.
Nominations are accepted throughout the year. To be included in the May awards ceremony, nominations for the award must be submitted by the last day of January.
