Celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day

Each year, the Office of Women’s Advancement and Advocacy (OWAA) proudly celebrates National Girls and Women in Sports Day by recognizing the talent, dedication, and achievements of female athletes across Delaware. Women’s sports play a critical role in building confidence, leadership, and opportunity for girls, and we are continually inspired by the incredible accomplishments of Delaware’s young women on and off the field. As part of this annual celebration, OWAA partners with statewide leaders in education and athletics to host a special event honoring outstanding female student-athletes from across Delaware. Through a school-based nomination process, athletes are recognized for their excellence, leadership, and commitment to their sport and their communities. By uplifting women’s sports and shining a spotlight on Delaware’s athletes, OWAA remains committed to advancing opportunity, equity, and recognition for girls and women in athletics — today and for generations to come.
