Personal Injury Protection

The State of Delaware is a self-insurer, and we provide automobile insurance for all state-owned vehicles. 21 Del. C. §2118 - Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is a required automobile insurance coverage in Delaware. It helps pay for medical expenses and net amount of lost earnings, if the driver and occupants of state-owned vehicles are injured in an automobile accident, regardless of who is at fault. These expenses must be incurred within two (2) years from the date of the automobile accident.
